David Friend

For over two decades, David has worked to protect the rights of injured individuals and their families. He focuses his practice on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, handling cases in locations coast to coast.

David currently works with clients who have suffered injuries resulting from their use of Taxotere, Proton Pump Inhibitors (such as Nexium, Prilosec and Prevacid), Xarelto and Onglyza.

Some of David’s prior work includes the successful resolution of hundreds of cases involving birth defects from Paxil or Zoloft, the Kugel hernia patch, and PPH caused by the use of diet drugs, Guidant and Medtronic heart devices, Bextra and Celebrex, ReNu with MoistureLoc, AMO Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose, Zyprexa, and Seroquel.  David also served as a member of the Plaintiff’s Executive Committee in the Ortho Evra coordinated litigation in California.

Prior to forming Hissey, Mulderig & Friend, PLLC with Michael Hissey and Shamus Mulderig, David gained experience as a litigation attorney with the law firms Hissey Kientz, LLP in Austin and Helm, Pletcher, Bowen & Saunders, LLP in Houston.  He is a member of the Texas Bar Association and the American Association of Justice, and is licensed to practice in the states of Texas, Pennsylvania and Wyoming.

David is a 1992 graduate of the University of Houston, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He then went on to earn his law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston in 1996. While in law school, David had the distinction of serving as Assistant Chief Articles Editor of the South Texas Law Review and was a member of the Board of Advocates. He also clerked for the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston.
